Client brief
The owners of a new build property in Sussex wanted an energy-efficient, future-proof heating solution that would provide comfortable, low-carbon warmth throughout the home. The brief required a complete ground source heat pump system integrated with underfloor heating to deliver sustainable heating and long-term energy savings.
Our solution
Better Planet provided a full design, supply, installation, and commissioning service, starting with a detailed room-by-room heat loss calculation to correctly size the heat pump and underfloor heating system.
Key system components:
- Heating system:
- NIBE F1345 – 30kW Ground Source Heat Pump for efficient, low-carbon heating.
- 500L and 300L Heat Pump Cylinders to ensure ample hot water supply.
- 300L Buffer Tank to optimise system performance and temperature stability.
- Ground loops:
- Heat collected from the field using 1.2 km of 40mm collector pipe, installed with trenching machinery subcontracted by Better Planet.
- Four ground loops of 300m each, connected via a ground manifold with 63mm flow and return pipes to the plant room.
- Underfloor heating:
- 16mm PERT pipe from Swedish manufacturer LK for durable, efficient heat distribution.
- Screed system on the ground floor and dry screed boards for the first and second floors.
- Heatmiser Controls for precise, user-friendly temperature management throughout the property.
This fully integrated solution ensures optimal comfort, energy efficiency, and low operating costs while enhancing the property’s long-term sustainability credentials.
