At Better Planet, we specialise in designing and installing high-quality renewable energy systems – both for homes and businesses. With a track record of exceptional customer service and a commitment to long-term energy savings, we ensure you’ll never be left in the dark.
There are several technologies which go into a renewable buildings. Between them they’ll look after your building’s heating, cooling, distribution and electricity generation. When installed independently they work to increase efficiency and reduce your impact on the climate.
When they’re designed and installed together, you unlock vast efficiency savings and ensure your building is future proofed for the next generation.
Why integrated design outperforms piecemeal installation
Combining separate systems (e.g., one supplier for solar PV, another for heat pump) often leads to conflicting controls, reduced efficiency, and warranty disputes. Our approach solves this by treating the entire system as one.
| Benefit | Focus |
|---|---|
| Single point of accountability | Avoid the “finger-pointing” common with multi-supplier projects. We design, supply, install, and commission every technology. You get one warranty and one point of contact for the entire system lifecycle. |
| Guaranteed synergy | Our engineering team designs the thermal, electrical, and ventilation elements in parallel. This ensures, for example, that your heat pump and solar PV controls communicate perfectly to maximise free energy usage. |
| Project risk elimination | By guaranteeing technical specifications and compliance (Part L, SAP), we ensure there are no surprises or costly redesigns down the line. We deliver systems that perform exactly as modelled. |
Drive down running costs: Balancing generation (solar PV/battery storage) and usage (Heat Pump)
Move beyond simply installing equipment into your property and focus on the superior fiancial performance that optimised design and install delivers.
| Core components | Strategy and benefit |
|---|---|
| Solar PV and battery storage | We specify high-yield Solar PV and right-sized Battery Storage to create a private mini-grid. This significantly increases your self-consumption rate, reducing the amount of expensive grid electricity you need for heating. |
| Heat pump and battery storage | When installed together, a battery allows you to store cheap electricity from variable tariffs to use for your heat pump. |
| Underfloor heating | We use the thermal mass of your building via Underfloor Heating as an additional thermal battery. This allows you to store heat efficiently generated during low-cost periods, smoothing demand spikes. |
Our technologies
We believe that each energy solution should enhance the others, delivering a powerful result. Here’s how we make that happen:
Ground source heat pumps
What it is: A system that uses heat from the ground in a refrigeration process to heat your building and provide hot water.
The benefits: Highly efficient system with reduced carbon footprint and energy bills.
Water source heat pumps
What is it: Take energy from nearby water bodies and turn it into eco-friendly heating or cooling for your property.
The benefits: Brilliant consistent temperature control and improved efficiency.
Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery (MVHR)
What is it: A system that recovers heat from air leaving a building, reusing it to heat a building.
The benefits: Improves air quality and recovers up to 90% of outgoing heat.
Air source heat pumps
What it is: A versatile, low-carbon heating and cooling system that transfers heat between indoor and outdoor air.
The benefits: Provides a scalable solution for buildings of various sizes, reducing both carbon footprint and energy bills.
Solar PV
What is it: Photovoltaic panels capture the sun’s energy and convert it into electricity.
The benefits: Generating your own electricity lowers grid reliance, and reduces ongoing runnign costs.
Battery storage
What is it: Stores of electricity which can be charged and discharged in your building.
The benefits: Make the most of cheap electricity tariffs, and ensure the electricity you produce through Solar PV can be made the most of.

Some previous projects

Little Reddings Primary School
Better Planet were selected by to install two Nibe F1345-60 kW ground source heat pumps at a school in Watford. The main contractor was Morgan Sindall, and we met the high standards required when working with a Tier 1 contractor.
The system provides heating and cooling for a building commissioned by the Department of Education.
More information can be found here.
Serpentine lake boat house
Better Planet was selected to install a brine-to-water heat pump for the Boat House in Hyde Park. The thermal energy is collected from the Serpentine Lake by pond mats. The heating is distributed by underfloor heating. We were also instructed to include active cooling for the summer months.

19 flats on Sunnyside Road, London
Better Planet was contracted to design, supply, install, and commission the ground source heat pump system, driving a heat network.
Our design team worked with the client to ensure all planning requirements were met in a tight London environment.

Testimonials from happy customers
Elliot Timlin, technical manager at CTC UK, worked alongside Better Planet’s team for the commissioning of the installation and he comments
Better Planet’s team did a great job with this installation. Great workmanship all the way though.
Multisource heat pump installations are one of the company’s specialities, and in this case we were pleased to see an application of CTC’s unique solution for combining ground source and air source. We look forward to work with Better Planet in many projects to come.
I was delighted with Better Planets service from project design to completion. Professional and friendly all the way.
Mr Young, a client based in Suffolk, installed Solar PV and a Ground Source Heat Pump with Better Planet
Renewables projects are big investments, and it requires efficient design. Our team of experts have designed, installed and comissioned over 1000 projects, and we’d love to speak with you.

- How long does it take to install a heat pump system
-
Installation timelines vary, but many projects are completed within a few weeks from initial consultation, or far into the future.
- Does a Ground Source Heat Pump integrate with other technologies?
-
Absolutely! Ground Source Heat Pumps easily integrate with underfloor eating, exisiting radiators, solar PV and batteries. If effectively designed, these systems improve efficiency across the building, complementing each other.
- Do Better Planet sub contract their work?
-
No. Every design engineer and installation team member is employed by Better Planet – you will have one single point of contact
