The space heating and hot water for this property was previously done by an oil boiler. The client was considering a ground source heat pump in order to lower running costs and benefit from tariff payments under the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).

Better Planet carried out a room by room heat loss calculation. This is required in order to size the heat pump correctly, but it is also an input in the assessment of the heating distribution system – in this case a combination of underfloor heating and radiators.

The ground loops were done by a trenching contractor sub-contracted by Better Planet. Four ground loops were connected to a ground manifold connected to the plant room.
