This Berkshire cottage used to be heated by an oil boiler. With spiralling oil costs, the owner was looking for a more cost effective way to heat the property. After taking all possible measures to add insulation, the heat loss was brought down to 75W/m².
The heating distribution system consists of radiators sized to operate with the oil boiler and it was not practical to add more capacity. The outdoor unit had to be located behind a garage, 25 meters from the property.
Under these circumstances, Better Planet recommended a high temperature split system air source heat pump from Daikin. The advantage of a high temperature system is that existing radiators can be used.
Better Planet provided the following service:
- Feasibility advice
- Heat loss calculation
- Support with the application for the Renewable Heat Premium Payment
- Design of the system
- Supply and installation
- Commissioning and hand over
“I am very pleased with Better Planet’s service. I have now placed another order with the company for a solar PV system and I have also recommended them to other clients”, Des Warren.
